Crazy Cat Lady Party! Happy Adoptiversary Alex :)
Happy 1 Year Adoptiversary Alex P. Kitten!
A year ago, January 4th, my husband and I welcomed a mustachioed cat into our lives. I had been volunteering at the shelter for I believe close to two years at this point to try and fill the giant cat shaped hole in my heart but it wasn’t fully doing the trick. When we finally moved into an apartment that allowed pets I couldn’t wait to bring a cat home. All of my favourite cats at the shelter would end up being adopted, which is great obviously, but it made it hard to choose when it came down to it. One of my fellow SPCA photographers told me about Alex, a new cat that I had yet to meet, and as soon as i met him I fell in love.
We wanted to make sure we met all of the cats so we went to leave his cage and he cried and cried and cried. Cats know crazy cat ladies when they seem them I swear. I felt like he was asking to come home with us. André was worried he would cry all day with us gone but in the end I convinced him that Alex was the one.
We excitedly took him home with us where he was very sweet and personable for the first week or two. Then the attacks came. Only me, never André. I came very close to bringing him back and lived in constant kitty terror. I’m glad I waited it through though because today he is such a fun cat. He still attacks occasionally but he is learning to be kinder. He is smart, handsome and playful with a little bit of sweetness on the side. Life would not be the same without him.
Today I threw a crazy cat lady party to celebrate his adoptiversary. We watched the best cat videos on youtube (I have a link to a playlist here:
), took kitty glamour shots, ate a ton of snacks and played a trivia game. At the end of it alex got a seafood bonanza fit for the king that he is. One things for sure, the diet was put on hold this weekend 0_0. Anywho, here are some of my favourite pictures from todays event.
I used my 50mm again which was probably a bit of a mistake as i tend to have a problem seeing the focus but a few of them turned out okay
Alex lounging around
Enjoying his birthday treat
Bri and Alex
Erika and Alex. This was the closest to getting in focus that any of my erika pics ended up being -_-
Me ni my crazy cat lady wig. Check out that turquoise eyeshadow! Cat lady intensity!
Jenna and Alex
Kelly, being a babe
Laura making the best entrance of the photoshoot
Natalie with the robots
Robin rocking my mask
This is probably my favourite. I think i’ll end up making in into an old propaganda poster of some sort. Once again Todd came up with the pose. So good!
Heres to many more Adoptiversarys in the future!
